Bru repatriation postponed till January 15
Aizawl, Jan 12 (PTI) The proposed resumption of therepatriation of Bru refugees from the Tripura relief camps waspostponed and would begin from January 15, state homedepartment officials today said.
The repatriation process would be undertaken onJanuary 15, 18 and 21 due to to the proposed launching of theNew Land Use Policy (NLUP), the flagship programme of thepresent Congress government on January 14.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in boththe relief camps in North Tripura district and Mizoram-Tripuraborder Mamit district, officials said.
Almost 300 Bru families have returned to Mizoram sinceNovember 3 last year which included almost 200 families whohad returned on their own during the past fortnight.
