Bagalkot-Kudachi line expected to be completed in five yrs

Bagalkot, Jan 12 (PTI) The ambitious Rs 916 croreBagalkot-Kudachi railway line in Karnataka was expected to becompleted within next five years, Minister of State forRailways K H Muniyappa said here today.

Addressing media, he said that the proccess of landacquisition for the project had already been set in motion.

The project would be taken up jointly by the Centre andstate government. "There is no dearth of funds for theproject", he said.

The state government, he said, had expressed keeninterest in the project.

The railway departnment would take up all theresponsibility of completion of the project, once the landacquistion was completed by the state government.

The Minister also hinted at commencement of a directtrain to New Delhi from a strategic location in the state,which would benefit passengers of 10 districts of the region.
