Assam first state to launch e-Udyog

Guwahati, Jan 11 (PTI) Assam became the first state inthe country to launch the e-Udyog today to createtransparency, promptness with increased efficiency ingovernance and improve public service with the support ofinformation technology.

Launching the initiative, Assam Minister for Industriesand Commerce Pradyut Bordoloi said the online system willgenerate accurate economic data, reduce response time of thedepartment and be convenient for the enterprises to file theapplications due to certainty of delivery.

Very soon few more activities would be incorporated toe-Udyog.

While states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh havetaken up e-filling of forms but only Assam had included nineother activities, he said.

Principal Secretary to the Industry and Commercedepartment Ravi Kapoor said the aim of e-Udyog was to createsystems easily accessible by an entrepreneur, besidesstreamlining and simplifying the procedures for variousapplications and subsidy claims under North East IndustrialPolicy 2007 and Assam Industrial Policy 2008.
