19 stolen luxury cars recovered; four arrested

Karaikal, Jan 11 (PTI): Nineteen luxury cars, stolen fromvarious places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala have been recoveredwith the arrest of four persons, police said.

B Srikanth, Senior Superintendent of Police, Karaikal saida special team was formed following complaints of movement ofvehicles with bogus records in Karaikal area. The team whilecarrying out vehicle checks spotted an SUV with four personsmoving around in a suspicous manner.

On being questioned, the four reportedly confessed to beinginvolved in stealing cars from both states with threeaccomplices in Coimbatore, Chennai and Sirkazhi. They used toprepare bogus documents for the vehicles and sell them atKaraikal.

Srikanth said a hunt was on to nab the others.

He said patrolling and vehicle checks had been intensifiedat Karaikal.
