Malaysian casanova conman nabbed in India

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 11 (ANI): A Malaysian national has been arrested in India on charges that he had married and cheated at least four women.

Police said Ameer, 31, staying in Kasimedu village near Puducherry, claimed to be a producer of short films in Malaysia and acquainted with his victims through online social networking sites, reports Malaysia Nanban.

He would marry women, live with them four a few days and then escape with their money and jewellery.

Police said Ameer's latest escapade involved a woman named Mumtaj whom he had befriended through a popular social networking site, reports the Star Online.

He visited Chennai last year and met Mumtaj posing as a rich man. They got married and lived for a couple of days.

Later, Ameer disappeared with cash and jewellery after claiming that he had shooting schedule in Australia.

Based on Mumtaj's complaint, police managed to track Ameer's friend who convinced him to return to Chennai. He was arrested when he arrived in the country.

Police said their investigations revealed that Ameer had married three other women, including one named Kathija, who had also lodged a report. (ANI)
