Mumbai: Kids find grenade inside chocolate box
Children playing at Karave village noticed a chocolate box, when they opened it they saw a grenade device. The police officials and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the scene and quickly seized the explosive.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Purshottam Karad said that they have started the investigation.
The Dog squad also arrived at the spot to check if any other bombs were planted in the vicinity. However, apart from the grenade, no other explosives was discovered.
"The BDDS immediately took the grenade to a secluded area to examine how dangerous it was. However, the device did not explode,'' said Karad .
Sources said that the Navi Mumbai police have issued a general alert to the citizens to be cautious of strange objects or packages in public places and to immediately report to authorities about them.
