New Delhi, Jan 10: Mohan Bhagwat the RSS chief has accused the Congress of linking Hindu groups with extremism to divert attention from the ever-increasing corruption cases.

"The Congress is losing its votebank. It's trying to divert attention. It is deliberately linking the name of the RSS to terror. The government says all these suspects were outside the Sangh when they indulged in extremist activities. RSS has always asked members with extremist views to leave", said Bhagwat.

It comes in the backdrop of leaked confession statements of Swami Aseemanand who admitted of Hindu terrorist hands in the Samjhauta Express blast of 2007.

Assemanand, during his confession, also stated Hindu terror links to the 2008 Malegaon blast and Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid blast. Media reported that Assemanand's friendship with Kaleem, who was arrested for his involvement in the Mecca Masjid blast case, made him to confess about the Hindu terror links to the blasts.

In a leaked report released by Wikileaks in Dec 2010, Congress Party heir apparent Rahul Gandhi had admitted before US ambassador to India Timothy Roemer that he was concerned about "growth of radicalized Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community".
