India as UNSC member will promote what is good for world at large
New Delhi, Jan 8(ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that India, as a temporary member of United Nations Security Council, would seek to promote what is good for the country and for the world at large.
Dr. Singh said this while addressing delegates from Global Advisory Council of People of Indian Origin, a forum of non-resident Indians, in the national capital.
"We have, this year, become a member of the United Nations Security Council for a period of two years. We will play our role, we will play our due and commensurate role in international bodies, and we will seek to promote what is good for India, and what is good for the world at large," Dr. Singh said.
About 1,500 overseas delegates and several Chief Ministers are attending the three-day conclave that would conclude on Sunday. (ANI)
