AP bandh-call gets cold response

Telengana protests
Hyderabad, Jan 8: The bandh call by the Telangana Joint Action Committee for the treatment meted out to the Osmania University students who were protesting against the Srikrishna report has had a cold response.

The Osmania University had become a war zone with incidents of bus burning and stone pelting reported. The police personnel stationed within the campus had to resort to dropping teargas shells to disperse the unruly mob of students.

The city had little impact on public life with no untoward incidents reported. Schools and colleges however chose to remain closed. Hyderabad, being an IT hub saw no interruption in normal activities, with attendance being normal.

There was some inconvenience caused to people travelling to and from the airport as the Aeroexpress service was affected. Aeroexpress operates bus services to the airport from various key points in Hyderabad for the convenience of travelers. ''We didn't ply Aeroexpress from Hi Tech city to Kukatpally in view of the situation. The service here will resume on Saturday,'' an airport official was quoted as saying.
