Mobile phone saves US man's life by deflecting bullet aimed at his chest

London, Jan 7 (ANI): The life of a nightclub worker in the US was spared when his mobile phone deflected a bullet fired at him by a disgruntled customer.

According to police in Atlanta, Georgia, parking attendant John Garber, 30, was shot at while working at a club called Halo, and lucky for him the bullet hit the phone in his jacket pocket before it ricocheted off.

Had it not been for the phone, the bullet would have hit him in the chest, and he suffered only minor injuries.

Witnesses said the shooters were upset they had been kicked out the club by management, returning later and opening fire.

Two people, brothers Desmond and Timothy Wright, were arrested a short time later, and two handguns were found in their vehicle.

"You owe me a new cell phone," the Daily Mail quoted Garber as telling his boss, National Parking owner Marc Ebersole when he spoke to him hours later on a land line, as his mobile phone was ruined. (ANI)
