CES: Google presents 'tablet only OS' Honeycomb

Las Vegas, Jan 6: The internet giant Google has showcased the latest version of its popular operating system Android at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2011 in Las Vegas. Google featured the Android 3.0 Homeycomb as 'tablet-only' version. This expected move from Google will enhance tablet manufactures to launch more tablets running on Honeycomb.

Unlike the other version Froyo and Gingerbread, Honeycomb is specially designed for tablets. It boasts special features and uses the entire large display screens than the smartphones. The demo video reveals the new User Interface, which is entirely different from earlier version Gingerbread.

Details revealed from the demo videos are:
* Totally revamped User Interface
* Multiple home-screens
* Redesigned widget gallery
* New web browser (looks like Google Chrome)
* Google eBooks application with flipping animations
* New Gmail Application
* Google Talk with video chat support (works on all OSes!)
* Google Maps 5.0 with 3D panning

Earlier in CES, Motorola and Asus have unveiled their tablets running on Honeycomb OS. Motorola has Xoom tablet with stunning features and Asus surfaced three different tablets with the latest OS. It's clear that other manufactures will also join the Honeycomb Party.
