Pakistan
Lahore, Jan 5: The killing of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer rocked Pakistan on Jan 4. He was shot dead in Islamabad by assailants for his views on the blasphemy laws in Pakistan.

The Pakistani police have made a substantial lead towards the attackers who were responsible for the murder of Taseer. They have arrested a man who offered a cash prize of Rs. 20 million to anyone who killed Salmaan Taseer.

Taseer has irked hardliners with his stand on the controversial blasphemy laws. He was gunned down by his guard for his vocal criticism on the law. He pumped 26 bullets on Taseer killing him instantly.

The man who offered the prize, Sardar Ebaad Dogar of Khangarh near Multan had announced in a public rally that he would offer Rupees 20 million to anyone who would kill Taseer. He was quoted as saying to the media that he was not embarrassed to offer the reward.

He also promised to raise the offer prize to Rs. 30 million if somebody from Khangarh killed Taseer, the reason being that Dogar had served as Khangarh district's nazim or mayor on a PML-Q ticket.
