CWG scam: CBI quizzes Suresh Kalmadi

New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): Commonwealth Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmdi was today questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the conduct of the sports event.ccording to sources, the questioning is about alleged irregularities in the Queen Baton's Relay held in London last year besides certain contracts awarded to various firms totalling several hundred crores.

The CBI summons to Kalmadi follows the interrogation of his key aide Lalit Bhanot and political advisor Manoj Bhore.

The investigating agency reportedly grilled the duo to throw some light on details about Kalmadi's role in bungling of funds, and in connection with the case involving UK-based A M Films.

The CBI had earlier conducted raids at Kalmadi's home and offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune, as part of its ongoing investigations into the multi-crore sporting extravaganza.

The raids were conducted in the wake of reports that some crucial documents related to Commonwealth Games deals have gone missing. (ANI)
