Solar Eclipse today; most visible in Sweden

Solar Eclipse
Jerusalem, Jan 4: Its the first solar eclipse of the year 2011 and sky-gazers are in for a treat. The partial solar eclipse began on Tuesday, Jan 4 across the skies in the Mideast and will later move across the most part of Europe.

Astronomers studying the eclipse in-depth predicts the eclipse to be most visible in Sweden where almost 85 pct of the sun will be blocked. The eclipse will also be visible from central Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and northwest China.

But overcast clouds seem to play spoilsport for many out there who wants to view the spectacle in the sky.

Medical personnel stressed the hazards involved in watching the sun with the naked eye during the eclipse. They have also suggested watching the eclipse on television or on live webcasts on the internet. Experts from UK have stated that observing the eclipse through sunglasses, a telescope, binoculars or a camera is not safe under any circumstances.
