Aarushi case: CBI became incompetent, says lawyer

Aarushi Talwar
New Delhi, Jan 4: Citing the failure of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar murder case, a top lawyer slammed the CBI officials by calling them "incompetent".

An well-known lawyer Harish Salve criticised CBI's closure report and claimed, "They (CBI) have filed a chargesheet in the garb of a closure report. I don't understand this, willing to womb but afraid to strike attitude. This is today becoming the order of the day."

CNN-IBN quoted Slave as blaming CBI officials, "They have turned incompetent and are unable to secure trial by evidence and trial by courts now we have trial by embarrassment. This kind of a thing happens over and over again."

According the sources, CBI recommended the closure of the case as the motive for murder could not be established and neither could the murder weapon be recovered.

On Monday, Jan 3, a special CBI court, which scrutinised CBI's closure report, criticised the decision of the investigative agency as the court asked, "What was the hurry (in filing a closure report)? Where are the documents (annexures) of the closure report?"

However, the court on Jan 3 rejected the victim's father Rajesh Talwar's plea to check CBI's closure report and the court's hearing has been adjourned till Friday, Jan 7.

Aarushi and Talwars' domestic help Hemraj were killed in Talwars' Noida residence on May 16, 2008. CBI in its closure report also showed Rajesh talwar as the only suspect of the murder.
