BSP suspends rape accused MLA; CB-CID probe is on

Lucknow, Jan 2: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati suspended BSP MLA Purushottam Narain Dwived from the party, on Sunday, Jan 2. Dwived is accused of raping a Dalit girl and then getting her arrested on fake charges of theft.

On Saturday, Jan 1, Mayawati ordered for Crime Branch (CB)-CID probe into the case.

“Dwived would be suspended until CB-CID inquiry is on," party spokesman said.

Mayawati said, “if Dwived found guilty in CB-CID investigation then he will be dismissed from the party and will be sent to jail."

The rape victim is in Banda women's jail in a theft case. The victim was arrested for allegedly steeling a mobile phone, licensed revolver and Rs 5000 of cash from Dwived's house.
