Chidambaram's encounter with Maharashtra Naxals

P Chidambaram
Nagpur, Dec 28: Citing the increased menace of Naxals and Maoists all around the country, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram once again stepped up to control the situation in the nation. Chidambaram on Tuesday, Dec 28 visited Maharashtra's Naxal-hit area Gadchiroli.

But the rebels continued their protest against the government. Ahead of Home Mnister's visit at the area, Naxals set afire a gram panchayat building in Dhanora tehsil of the district on Dec 28.

Police also informed that the Maoists also blocked the Gadchiroli-Raipur Highway by felling a couple of trees near Koolbhatti area. The traffic was disrupted for over a couple of hours in the morning ahead of Chidambaram's visit.

Chidambaram with other national politicians earlier took a tight vigil at the Naxal dominated areas in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other states. Central government along with different state governments acquired several policies to have a command on the worsened condition.
