Setback to ISRO; Communication satellite explodes

Following major technical fault, the communication satellite of ISRO, GSAT-5P failed in the first phase.
Soon after the launching from Sriharikota rocket launch centre on Dec 25, the rocket geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV) exploded mid-air.
The satellite, which was scheduled to replace the INSAT-2E satellite, was to ensure continuity of telecom, television and weather services.
After a leak in the Russian cryogenic engine on board the launch vehicle, the original date (Dec 20, 2010) of the launch of the satellite was postponed to Dec 25.
