"Naxalism" an economic development problem: PM

New Delhi, Dec 25: PM Manmohan Singh addressed IPS Probationers on Friday, Dec 24. He said that homegrown terrorism should be dealt tactfully. The terrorism coming from external sources are easy to deal in some way but the homegrown terrorism need to be handled sensitively.

Singh warned about the risk of terrorism, that it might become an “internal intruding problem." The terror modules, which is directed by some misguided elements of our society, should be traced in our country.

Singh said, “I think we has to deal the problem with all the sensitive it requires." He added, “I would recommend you to devise credible effective strategies to deal with this very sensitive issue."

Singh said that to handle terrorism, technology and techniques ought be used properly. until conviction everybody must be considered as innocent according to our law system. Hence, during the investigation of suspect, the third degree methods should not be used. “We must respect human rights", he added.

Referring to Naxalism Singh said that it should be dealt sensitively, both as law and order problem and economical development problem.

Singh said, “ Naxalism activities are found high in central India. Where the bulk of India"s mineral wealth lies and if we don"t control Naxalism than we cannot sustain our economic growth rate of 10-11 percent per annam."
