HC rejects reservation; Gujjars continue protest

Jaipur, Dec 22: As Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday, Dec 22 rejected Gujjar community's demand of 5 percent reservation in government jobs, the community assured to continue their strong protest through out the state.

The community resumed their protest by blocking roads and railway tracks on Tuesday, Dec 21.

The court on Dec 22 stated that the Act of 2008 did not have quantifiable data on castes that could justify the reservation.

The protesters demanded that if the court has stayed reservation, the government should give 5 percent reservation in the OBC quota and in the interim stop all job recruitment.
