Russian President to visit Taj Mahal

New Delhi, Dec 22: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will visit Taj Mahal on Wednesday, Dec 22 during his second day of India visit. Officials said that Medvedev is expected to reach Agra by 10.30 am. After his visit to historical monument, Medvedev will fly to Mumbai in a special plane.

A Russian advance team of security personnel has been camping in Agra for the past four days to oversee security arrangements. It has procured its own vehicles from Russia.

Earlier on Monday, Medvedev visited President Pratiba Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President hosted a special banquet for her Russian counterpart. Medvedev also visited Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Russian President also signed 30 deals with India including nuclear cooperation, defence, pharmaceutical and space technology sectors. India and Russia also signed agreements to design a project of fifth-generation fighter aircraft.
