Dalit woman gangraped for a week in UP

Lalitpur, Dec 22: Another shocking incident of gangrape reported from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, Dec 22. Police officials said that they received a complaint against a gang who abducted a Dalit woman and raped for nearly a week.

Police officials filed an FIR against Chottelal Jha and five others for allegedly raping the women. Police said that Chottelal Jha and his aide abducted the woman on Nov 6, 2010 while she was going to her parents house in Gandhi Nagar locality.

Later they took her to Mayaon village and along with four others raped her for a week. This incident came to light when the woman managed escape from their custody.

"The woman somehow later managed to escape from their clutches and reached her in-laws house. The couple then informed the police about the incident yesterday after which an FIR had been lodged at Kotwali police station," Superintendent of Police Akash Kulhari said.
