Islamabad, Dec 21 (ANI): The Pakistan Government should bring in a legislation to bind the opposition members as well as the government functionaries for getting permission from the competent authority before meeting any foreign diplomat, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

Responding to objections raised by the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Malik said that the government had never taken dictation from foreign countries.

"We have our own policies and our stance is crystal-clear when the country's national interest is taken into consideration, the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.

Malik made it clear that the opposition must play a constructive role, and that it must immediately halt meeting with foreign diplomats.

"The opposition must promise not to meet with ambassadors and foreign diplomats... the House must constitute a committee that must make a law restricting the opposition from meeting foreign high ups without having taken the government into confidence," he said.

Also, replying to the observations made by Chaudhry Nisar in the National Assembly regarding US interference in Pakistan's national matters, Malik urged the House to constitute a committee to frame rules and regulations for dealing and working with foreigners. (ANI)
