Pak can't progress unless intelligence agencies work within law: Chaudhry Nisar
Islamabad, Dec 21 (ANI): Pakistan cannot progress unless its intelligence agencies are circled within laws and the Constitution, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, has said.
Speaking on the floor of the House, Nisar said that in the past, governments had been destabilised by the agencies, and therefore, they must be put under law and Constitution.
Without mentioning the Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) bill, Nisar said that the government was about to introduce yet another important law in the parliament without taking into confidence the opposition and even its allies, adding that if the opposition had some difference on a bill, it had a right to speak against it.
"Difference of opinion is our right and nobody should oppose this," the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
Nisar deplored the statement of the United States Ambassador on the implementation of the RGST, saying that the government should take notice of it, and take measures to stop foreigners from indulging in the internal matters of the country.
He also deplored the statement of the US chairman of Joint Staff regarding an operation in North Waziristan, saying that the parliament had a right to take any decision in this regard.
Commenting on the Hajj scandal, the opposition leader said that the incident had defamed Pakistan, as not a single incident of corruption in Hajj matters had been reported in other countries. (ANI)
