Burari (New Delhi, Dec 20 (ANI): Praising Congress President Sonia Gandhi's clean politics and her agenda for eradicating corruption, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Monday termed it his good fortune to work under her.
Addressing the Congress plenary session at Burari in northwest Delhi, Dr. Singh said: "It is our good fortune that we are working under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi."
"We are lucky to have a visionary leader like Sonia Gandhi, under whose guidance we all are striving to make Congress a highly responsible party," he added.
"Soniaji has yesterday outlined our approach and what we can and we should do to eradicate corruption in public life," Dr Singh said, adding that his government would pay "close attention" to what she had said.
He also said the government will pay careful attention to the four-point agenda to fight corruption set out by Sonia Gandhi.
"Among other measures, she advocated setting up a fast-track court to deal with public officials accused of corruption. She also said that she wants Congress ministers and chief ministers to surrender discretionary rights especially for land allocation," he added.
He also stressed that only Congress can provide a stable government and make India a powerful nation.
"I have said this earlier and want to reiterate that only Congress can provide a stable and responsible governance to the people of India, so its time that we focus on the guiding principles of our great party," he added. (ANI)
