Peace rally for protection of human rights organised in Kolkata
Kolkata, Dec 19 (ANI): In a bid to spread awareness about the importance of peace and non-violence and establish a democratic society based on human rights and values, a unique peace rally was organised in Kolkata.
Sanjay Ganguly, the founder director of 'Janasanskriti Theater Group' said that the rally was organised to promote the cause of humanity, peace and non-violence among people.
"This is a walk for humanity because you see that we are surrounded by the culture of violence, the cultural violence outside, what we see, the violence, outside is affecting our mind. So, we are becoming violent inside our homes. So, if you see the domestic violence and the political violence, they are actually connected. So, it's a culture of violence that we need really fight against and culture of violence is being promoted by all political parties," said Ganguly.
Brian Brophy, a participant from Los Angeles said that he took part in the rally to create spaces in the society in a non-violent way and to know people.
"To create new spaces for people, to investigate what it is to be human and to create spaces in a non-violent. So, part of it is to be able to meet with people, to mingle, to communicate and make spaces in Kolkata that are safe for theatre and for nice things to happen," said Brophy.
