63 percent Americans favour military tribunals over civilian trials for terror suspects: Poll
Washington, Dec 16(ANI): A new poll has found that a majority of Americans are in favour of trying terror suspects in front of military commissions rather than in civilian courts.
According to the Rasmussen poll, 63 percent of Americans favour military commissions, compared to 23 percent who think that the trials should be in civilian courts.
No option of "both" or "neither" was given to respondents.
The survey comes as Attorney General Eric Holder is urging the Senate to drop a provision the House recently passed barring all transfers of Guantanamo Bay prisoners to the U.S. for any reason, Politico reports.
US President Barack Obama has indicated a preference for civilian trials, but his administration has also sent some prisoners to military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay. (ANI)
