North Korea ready for six-party talks: China
Beijing, Dec 15 (ANI): China has claimed gaining North Korea's support for easing regional tensions and attending emergency six-party talks on Korean Peninsula's nuclear program.
According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu, State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who visited Pyongyang last week, reached these important agreements with the North's top leader Kim Jong-il.
"The DPRK side has agreed with the Chinese proposal for an emergency meeting of the envoys to the Six-Party Talks," China Daily quoted Jiang, as saying.
She further said that Pyongyang praised China for its efforts in maintaining the peace and stability on the peninsula and expressed hope of easing regional tensions in the region.
"Both sides believe the Six-Party Talks process should go forward, and strive to achieve denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula," Jiang added.
She also said that the two sides are of the opinion that all six-party members should work towards establishing peace and stability in the region and avoid further escalations. (ANI)
