CBI: Kalmadi choking CWG probe

New Delhi, Dec 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that the Common Wealth Organizing Committee comprising its Chief Suresh Kalmadi and aides are not co-operating with investigation. The CBI probe was assigned to look into the alleged corruption in the Common Wealth Games.

CBI intimated the Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar that the Organizing committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot, Kalmadi and his aides are continuously proving to be immaterial in the inquiry and halting the CBI probe.

Sources said that the CBI director AP Singh has already been notified about the progress in the CWG cases and the problems caused in the probe.

Post the mega sports event the organizing committee was engulfed with several allegations and controversies related with mis-appropriation of funds. Last week many vendors who assisted CWG from start to end vented their aversion at non-payment of bills.
