Twitter makes Assange's bail hearing 'live'

Julian Assange
Washington, Dec 15: The founder of whistle-blower website WikiLeaks, Julian Assange has become the centre of the world attention by the release of United States diplomatic cables. Anything related to Assange is getting popularity all over the world. Now, his bail hearing also made history.

The district Judge, who granted bail to Assange in rape case, has allowed the reporters to sent live updates of the court procedure through Twitter on mobile phones.

Reporters, who attended the bail hearing on Tuesday, Dec 14, sent 'tweets' through their accounts which provided a 'live coverage' of the court proceedings.

The majority of the tweets were posted by Alexi Mostrous, a Times journalist, and Heather Brooke, the Freedom of Information campaigner, reported The Telegraph.

Even though the use of mobile phones in court is not banned, nobody uses it during hearings. The new rule made an unusual form of legal history.
