Govt to appoint UK Sinha as new SEBI chairman
According to sources, UK Sinha, chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India, will take charge on Feb 17, 2011 when the present chairman CB Bhave's term ends.
Last time when government looked for SEBI Chairman post, UK Sinha was a front-runner. But government preferred CB Bhave over him. Sinha is a former IAS officer of Bihar cadre (1976 batch).
Earlier, Sinha had worked in Ministry of Finance as the Joint Secretary, in-charge of capital markets, external commercial borrowings, banking and currency and coins.
