World must deliver on 'UN's Green Fund' climate agreement': Cameron

London, Dec 12(ANI): British Prime Minister David Cameron has greeted the United Nations agreement to curb climate change as a 'very significant step forward', but warned of the hard work that now lies ahead.

Cameron called British Energy Secretary Chris Huhne to congratulate the team who worked on the deal agreed to between 190 nations in Cancun, Mexico.

"Now the world must deliver on its promises. There is more hard work to be done ahead of a climate change conference in South Africa next year," the Daily Mail quoted Cameron, as saying.

"I am clear that Britain will meet its international obligations. This will be the greenest-ever British Government. And I will continue to make the case for a global, legally-binding climate agreement," he added.

The UN Climate Conference in Cancun reached a "compromise" deal to set up a 100 billion dollars 'Green Fund' to fight global warming on Saturday.

As per the deal, hundred billion dollars are expected to mobilise per year by 2020, which will be given to developing nations for adaptation and mitigation purposes. (ANI)
