India more corrupt over the last three years
Nevada (US), Dec 10 (ANI): About 74 percent Indians feel that corruption has increased over the last three years, according to Transparency International (TI) survey "Global Corruption Barometer 2010" released on December nine.
Indians identify that political parties are the most corrupt, followed by police, parliament, public officials, education, business-judiciary-NGO, media, religious bodies, and military; it points out.
TI has put India alongside Iraq, Nigeria, and Afghanistan in the most corrupt category.
Religious statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that corruption was an important concern and India needed to show commitment for good governance and restore the trust in its institutions and project an image of cleaner and transparent country.
Corruption affected everybody but it hurt the poor most and was one of the major obstacles in poverty reduction and impaired democracy, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, added.
With Huguette Labelle as its Chair of Board of Directors, TI is headquartered in Berlin. (ANI)
