One-man probe an eye-wash to cover 2G scam: BJP

New Delhi, Dec 10: The Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have rejected the Central government's suggestion of a one-man committee probe to the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

BJP said that the one-man committee of retired Supreme Court judge Shivraj Vir Patil was an eye-wash and a measure to cover-up the things. Leaders added that they won't go back from the demand of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe to the 2G scam.

"We wholly reject this suggestion. It is not even a commission of inquiry. This is only an executive appointed committee. On all these grounds we reject this suggestion of a committee of a retired judge looking into the issue," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said.

Arun Jailtely said the one-man committee probe, which was announced by Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday, Dec 9, cannot probe the fraudulent implementation of telecom policies and allegations of corruption.

Following the JPC demand by Opposition parties, both Houses of Parliament adjourned for the continuous 20th day without any business. Sources reported that the Parliament deadlock would continue in coming days also.
