50pc of Oz workers using Facebook, Twitter falling victim to cyber crime
Melbourne, Dec 9 (ANI): A new survey has revealed that nearly half of all Australian workers who access social network sites like Facebook and Twitter have been subjected to a cyber crime attack.
More than 800 full and part-time workers aged 18-64 participated in the survey, conducted for online security company Symantec.
One in five workers admitted they had increased their vulnerability to attack by posting confidential information online, while one in four had accepted a friend request from someone they didn't know, reports the Courier Mail.
Twenty three percent have received a phishing scam through a social networking site, 31 percent have received spam while 13 percent said their computer contracted a virus via a social network site.
Symantec has warned computer users to be wary of Christmas-related scams because cyber criminals targeted significant events. (ANI)
