2G scam: CBI extends raids to Raja's relatives

Chennai, Dec 9: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has extended the raids on former Union Telecom Minister A Raja over 2G spectrum scam to his relatives. CBI officials raided Chennai-based company Green House Promoters owned by his relatives.

CBI officials on Wednesday, Dec 8 raided the Green House Promoters, owned by Raja's nephew RP Parameshkumar. Another partner of this company is Sadhick Batcha, who is believed to be close aide to scam tainted DMK leader A Raja.

Sources also reported that CBI has taken the owners of Green House Promoters for questioning in connection with the 2G spectrum scam

Senior CBI officials said that Green House Promoters was set up in 2004 in Chennai and later in 2007, they started a subsidiary in Singapore, which was used to route money to the India.

Investigators also added that Green House Promoters started the venture just after Raja became the Union Minister in 2004 and they started the foreign arm of the company while the government started the 2G spectrum allocations.

Meanwhile, CBI continued the raid in residence of A Raja in Chennai and Delhi. Following the raids, DMK leaders held a urgent meeting and declared full support to Raja.
