Mamata vows to wipe out CPI-M in Burdwan
Burdwan, Dec 6 (ANI): Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has vowed to wipe the ruling Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) out from Burdwan District ahead of the state Assembly election.
"The CPM must not get a single seat in Burdwan. All sections must come together for a movement against the CPM," Mamata told a gathering here.
"I challenge Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee that they will not get a seat in the upcoming election, just like in the parliamentary elections," she said.
She also accused Bhattacharjee and his party colleagues of stoking violence with their speeches.
"What have they (the Left) done apart from killing people and democracy?" she asked.
Banerjee also pitched for development, claiming that that CPM had done little for the state in three decades of rule.
"Who prevented the CPM from working for the progress of the state in 35 years? I have only one ministry now. Give me an opportunity, and I will show you what I can do for the state with a cabinet of 40 ministers in five years," she said.
Highlighting her achievements, Banerjee said: "The railways have brought about a revolution in Bengal."
She also demanded that the state government take the right judgment within 15 days in the recent Raina incident.
Raina is the latest addition to the list of trouble spots in Burdwan after Mangalkot, Ketugram, Purbasthali and Memari. These places have been buffeted by clashes between CPM and Trinamul, and occasionally Congress supporters, in the past few years. (ANI)
