Google Rosa Park doodle
New York, Dec 2: The internet giant Google has honoured African American civil rights activist Rosa Parks by depicting a special doodle on its search engine home page in United States on Wednesday, Dec 1.

The special doodle painted her refusal to obey bus driver's order to give up her seat for a white passenger. By clicking on the doodle, users can see the search results for Rosa Park.

On Dec 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Rosa Parks refused to obey bus driver James Blake's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger.

Parks' action sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, intended to oppose the city's policy of racial segregation on its public transit system. Later, United States Supreme Court declared that the Alabama and Montgomery laws requiring segregated buses as unconstitutional.
