Mumbai, Dec 1: Abhijeet Sawant was involved in a drunken brawl when his friends car rammed into a scooter in Santacruz last night, seriously injuring two persons.

Prajakta Shukre, another reality show singer rammed her car into a scooter injuring passengers Toufiq Khan (19) and Tauhid Khan (14). The incident occurred at 11:30 pm yesterday at Daulat Nagar in Santacruz. The injured were rushed to Nanavati Hospital and are undergoing treatment.

In a bid to shield Prajakta from agitated public, Abhijeet got out of his car and started throwing names and hurling abuses at pedestrians. Witnesses claim that Shukre and Sawant, who was driving an Audi, were in an inebriated condition and got into a brawl with pedestrians who tried to stop them. "Sawant immediately got out of the car and began to shield Shukre after the accident. He also hurled abuses at the public," said Salim Khan, a witness.

According to witnesses, three cars, including Sawant's were involved in racing near Daulat Nagar in Santacruz. Prajakta was driving a sedan and ran over a scooter, grievously injuring the rider and the pillion. She was accompanied by three other girls.

The Santacruz police sent Prajakta for an alcohol test and medical examination at Bhabha Hospital and Abhijeet to the police station. "We are waiting for the medical reports after which we will arrest Prajakta. The victims are out of danger and are recovering," said a police official, on condition of anonymity.

Sonu Nigam and other aspiring singers rushed to the police station on hearing about the incident.
