Halt new release to protect ties: US to WikiLeaks

WikiLeaks
Washington, Nov 28: Barack Obama's government has asked whistle-blower website WikiLeaks to halt the release of secret data citing that release may jeopardise ties with its allies.

US administration has released a letter to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange saying that the release will make "countless" lives at risk and threaten global counterterrorism operations.

The letter also warns WikiLeaks that the release of the illegally obtained US government classified materials is a violation of US law. The letter also asked WikiLeaks to return the secret data to US government and destroy the copies with them.

WikiLeaks is all set to release millions of confidential US diplomatic cables on Sunday, Nov 28.
