Manipur: Militants abduct 5 government officials

Imphal, Nov 28: Militants have kidnapped five government officials of public health engineering department (PHED) in Senapati district of Manipur.

Police told the the kidnapped government officials include two assistant engineers, two section officers and a driver. They were kidnapped at gun point after stopping their vehicle at Mayangkhong village on Saturday, Nov 27.

Officials added that the kidnappers were the members of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council.

The abducted officials were identified as assistant engineers H Gyanesore and K Ramesore, section officers N Somi and K Manigopal and driver of the department A Ibomcha.

Police has started investigation in connection with the kidnapping.
