London, Nov 27 (ANI): A skinny prisoner has stunned US authorities by squeezing through the narrow gap of cell bars to escape.

Kristopher Allen White, 23, was able to ease his thin frame through the small gap that measures just four and half inches wide at the Tennessee jail.

White, who weighs 11 and half stone (165pounds), and is 5ft 11in tall, was able to get his head through the narrow gap of the high tensile steel bars covering a window opening.

He was on the run for 14 hours before being recaptured and returned to Haywood County jail in Brownsville, Tennessee.

"It's beyond my imagination to know how he succeeded at that," the Daily Mail quoted Haywood County Sheriff Melvin Bond as saying.

"It appeared that Christopher got his head through those bars some type of way and he was able to gain freedom," he stated.

White, who was jailed after being arrested for breaking into several churches in Haywood County earlier this year, is believed to have been assisted in the escape by his cellmate.

Police later found his prison issue blanket, which he had used to drape over a barbed fire fence surrounding the jail.

Sheriff Bond said after the escape several of White's associates called the sheriff's department saying they had given him a ride after he told them he had been freed. (ANI)
