BSNL plans New Year Party, to go on strike

New Delhi, Nov 25: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announced to have a fabulous New Year party as all executives and non-executive employees of BSNL decided to hold 3-day strike from Dec 1, 2010.

The strike, which will continue from Dec 1 to Dec 4, has been called in the protection of disinvestment and Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Another reason to hold the strike is believed to be the protest against Sam Pitroda Committee's suggestion of retrenchment of one lakh workers through VRS.

With several other demands, Joint Action Committee of BSNL Associations also emphasised to gain back Rs 18,500 crores, which the company has owe to return to the government over 3G spectrum charges.
