President Patil greets nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): The President, Pratibha Devisingh Patil, has greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, which is being celebrated tomorrow.

"On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, I convey my heartiest greetings to all my fellow citizens. May the great Guru's teachings of peace, harmony and compassion guide us to follow them in our daily lives," said President Patil in her message.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari also greeted the people on the holy and auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak's birthday.

Guru Nanak was the founder of the religion of Sikhism and the first of ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhs believe that all subsequent Gurus possessed Guru Nanak's divinity and religious authority. (ANI)
