Musharraf quit Pak presidency on my prodding: Bush
Washington, Nov 17 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf stepped down from his post because the then US President George W Bush asked him to do so, the latter has revealed in his book "Decision Points".
On page 217 of his book, Bush wrote that he had asked Musharraf in late 2007 to quit his job, restore the sacked judges and lift the emergency in Pakistan, The News reported.
"Musharraf promised to do all three things and he kept his commitment," Bush added in his memoir.
This is the first time that it has been disclosed why Musharraf resigned and left the country. He had lost the confidence of the US leaders and when they told him to quit, he could not resist, the paper said. (ANI)
