'US repeatedly asked Pak to punish 26/11 plotter'

"We have repeatedly called upon Pakistan to prosecute those responsible for the attack, and we continue to expect Pakistan to take the appropriate steps," stated Crowley.
One of the leading journal of the country, The Washington Post on Nov 15 reported, "A senior US counter-terrorism official believes a few mid-level Pakistani officials had an inkling of the plot but that its dimensions surprised them."
"Others speculate that the government of President Asif Ali Zardari may even have been a secondary target because of his overtures to India and his opposition to extremism," added the report.
