2G scandal: Raja embarrasses UPA before SC

The court on Nov 16 asked questions about the pending decision by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a plea for sanction of prosecution of former Telecom Minister A Raja in the controversial 2G Spectrum allocation issue.
During a hearing on a petition filed by Janata Party President and former Law Minister Subramaniam Swamy, who had sought sanction for the prosecution of former Telecom Minister A Raja, the court asked, "Can the sanctioning authority (Prime Minister) sit on the complaint."
Swamy in 2008 asked the Prime Minister his sanction to prosecute Raja with respect to the scam case. He got a reply from the Prime Minister's Office in 2010 that the CBI is investigating the matter.
