2G row: Ex aide brings more trouble for Raja

A Raja
New Delhi, Nov 13: Trouble for Telecom Minister A Raja seemed to be increased as his former secretary AS Mathur on Nov 13 claimed that he did not approve the controversial decision of Raja on 2G spectrum in 2007.

"The minister had asked me to advance the cut-off date but I refused stating that it would be against the principles of natural justice," claimed Mathur on Saturday, Nov 13.

Mathur also informed, "When the Minister (Raja) did not listen to my counsel, I told the joint secretary concerned that I would not sign any files on licensing matters, therefore no files should be put up before me."

However, the Department of Telecom (DoT) stated that DS Mathur was part of all discussions and he signed the note on the file on Nov 7, 2007.
