Murder: 44 CPI(M) leaders get life imprisonment

Suri (West Bengal), Nov 11: A court in Birbhum in West Bengal on Nov 11 pronounced life imprisonment to the 44 CPI(M) leaders for the murder case of 11 Trinamool Congress supporters, who were reportedly landless farmers.

According to the prosecution, the victims were brutally hacked and beaten to death on Jul 27, 2000.

"This is a victory of truth. The CPI-M cadres brutally killed 11 of our innocent supporters," Trinamool Congress district president Anubrata Mondal stated.

However, CPI(M) leaders claimed, "We shall go to higher court."
