Poisonous gas leaks in Jharkhand coal mines

Jharkhand
Dhanbad, Nov 10: A poisonous gas reportedly started leaking in the underground coal mines of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand on Tuesday, Nov 9.

The incident took place at Jeetpur colliery, a subsidiary unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), at a time when 191 miners were inside the mines.

The miners were, however, rescued safely from the mines and the leak has been temporarily sealed.

"It was a minor problem. The gas leakage has been sealed timely and miners are safe now," K L S Rao, general manager of the colliery said.

Rao was part of the rescue team that rushed into the mine to seal the leakage.
